Barns and Cottages

When it comes to barns, there are three popular styles. The monitor roof is tiered at the ridge and often seen as horse stables. The gambrel, however, is a hipped roof, and is a more familiar site on old farms. A variation of the monitor is the half monitor, very functional and common for livestock farms.

Cottages and small country farm houses are a pleasant site across an open field of alfalfa or wheat. Beneath tall Poplars, you can find the classic gable roof top of a small home hiding in the shade.
